Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 24, 2026

MacroForging is a small, fan-made tool for building World of Warcraft macros. This page explains, plainly, what little data it collects and why. The short version: there's no account, no password, no analytics, and almost nothing about you ever reaches a server at all.

What MacroForging doesn't collect

There's no sign-up and no account system, so there's no email address, password, or profile to collect in the first place. This site doesn't use analytics or tracking cookies, doesn't run ads, and doesn't sell or share data with anyone - there's no data of that kind to sell.

What stays in your browser

MacroForging keeps a few things in your browser's own local storage, never sent anywhere except as noted below:

All of this lives only on your own device. Clearing your browser's site data for MacroForging removes it completely - there's no account to delete, because none exists.

What the server sees

Loading spell, item, class, and talent data works by MacroForging's server fetching it live from Blizzard Entertainment's own Game Data API and caching it briefly (up to one hour) so repeat requests are fast. That cached data is game data - spell names, descriptions, icons - never anything about you personally.

While MacroForging is invite-only, redeeming a code creates a record of that code: when it was created, when (if ever) it was redeemed, and an optional short note the person who invited you may have added purely for their own reference (like "Sarah - Hunter"). No account, email, or name is required from you to redeem a code, and none is collected automatically.

Like effectively any website, MacroForging's hosting provider (Cloudflare) may briefly log basic request details (such as IP address) as part of ordinary security and operational infrastructure. MacroForging itself doesn't access, store, or use this beyond what's needed to keep the site running.

Blizzard's data

Spell, talent, class, and item data comes live from Blizzard Entertainment's Game Data API and belongs to Blizzard. MacroForging never connects to your World of Warcraft account, never asks for your Battle.net credentials, and has no access to anything about your characters. For how Blizzard itself handles data tied to your account, see Blizzard's own privacy policy.

Data retention

Cached game data expires automatically (within an hour). Invite and session records are kept only for as long as the beta needs them and are removed once they're not - see MacroForging's Terms of Service for how access itself can change during the beta.

Children's privacy

MacroForging isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age - there's essentially nothing here to collect in the first place.

Changes to this policy

If this ever changes in a way that matters (for example, MacroForging starts collecting something it doesn't today), this page will be updated and the date above will change.
